Myrtle Beach State Park
Nestled along the Grand Strand coastline, Myrtle Beach State Park offers visitors a tranquil escape from the beachside hustle and bustle with abundant green space, interpretive education, and some of the best surf fishing in the state. Furthermore, a unique maritime forest awaits your exploration via a convenient hiking trail. There are also plenty of designated areas for picnics, as well as a fishing pier.
Huntington Beach State Park
Another Grand Strand coastal destination, Huntington Beach State Park, is characterized by iconic landmarks, vibrant ecology, and awe-inspiring views. Wildlife enthusiasts will be delighted to know Huntington Beach is home to several loggerhead turtles and other endangered animal and plant species. Huntington Beach also has a series of nature trails that make up approximately two and a half miles of easy hiking.
Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge
While technically not one of the state parks in SC, Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge is an astounding wildlife sanctuary that provides a gamut of outdoor recreation activities. For example, you could go hunting, birding, and fishing all in one day! Waccamaw boasts over 6,500 acres of freshwater tidal marshes that are extremely rare ecosystems and are some of the world’s most biologically diverse habitats.
